Hangouts with SMS support was announced in Google+ event and it was only available for Nexus 5 Android 4.4 Kitkat. Yesterday, this latest update landed in Google Play for other nexus and non-nexus devices. Along with SMS support Hangouts 2.0 is updated with group MMS conversation, Animated Gif support, location sharing in conversation , share your current mood etc. Currently the SMS & MMS feature is only available for Android 4.0+ devices only.
